Where the counter sits
Chimes use the music-note icon at the bottom right, near your level. You earn them from quest rewards and from selling catches. There is no published price list for each species. The merchant quotes the pack you actually brought.
Sell without losing a hand-in
Julian at the wooden stall greets you and offers Sell Held, Sell Inventory, and a cancel line. Sell Held sells only the creature you are holding. Sell Inventory sells the pack. He states a total, for example 62 Chimes for one early Bluebell, and nothing moves until you choose Deal!
Before a batch sale, open the quest log. Keep a Fungstone for Marina, a Koroom for Fenna, and any Runic Sigilith, Runic Inkling, or Runic Occulot you still owe Iblis. There is no documented way to undo a sale.
Getting Started pays 125 Chimes on turn-in. That is a quest reward, not a sale.
Spend against a price you can read
Launch counter readings for the Grove shop instruments:
| Instrument | Chimes |
|---|---|
| Wooden Lute | Free, from Leo |
| Tamer's Guitar | 100 |
| Adventurer's Tambourine | 750 |
| Violin of Pilgrimage | 4,500 |
Later recorded costs, which you should re-read on the panel: Deepchord 16,000 after Answer the Machine, Forest Spirit's Lyre offering 5,000 after Fenna's trials, dynamite 8,000 on one cavern run, and the Deep Halls entry 32,000. Those are not Grove stall prices.
The shortfall calculator uses your own price and balance. Put in 100 and 125 to see the tutorial guitar leave 25 Chimes. It will not predict the next sale.
Robux store packs also sell Chimes, from a documented 250-Chime pack at 8 Robux up to 10,000 Chimes at 199 Robux. Those are optional. They are not required for the tutorial guitar.
